Is there any way we can add sponsored ads just the way google does? I plan on making a website for construction companies. I would love to have some of them pay me some money and have their ads come up first in the sphider search.

thanks.

The idea behind our free version is to give potential users the ability to get started with no cost to gain a first-hand experience of what are product is, how its built, and what makes the inClick Ad Server different than any other platform available. On top of that, new users get to make $500.00 on us.

It's important to understand that the inClick Ad Server is not some simple script, but a robust platform.

With integration into a search engine such as Sphider, a search engine operator can monetize their search engine while including features that advertisers need - broad match, exact match, phrase match, negative match, advanced reporting, geographical targeting, proactive click-fraud detection and prevention, scalability, partner program, and so much more in a bid-for-placement environment. One can easily extend on the platform and start their own partner program where other Sphider (or other Search Engine platform) users could tap into your ad network as a Publisher to show ads on your behalf.

Go to my site in my sig. Enter snazzy in the search box.
Click Findit. You will see that I have indeed added ads on the top and right hand side like google.

These ads are pulled from a database and displayed according to the keywords used in the search box.

So what is searched will generally bring up paid advertising for the same keywords.

I modified the header.html, categories.html and search results.html. Plus I added a seperate index.php

I am still working on the site, but feel free to navigate it. :-)

Over the coming weekend I'll dig out the code and post it here.

cip6791,

The inClick Ad Server can do what you are looking to do as selym had mentioned. While it does require some coding, the results integrate quite well.

You can take a look at www.petadvantage.com as this older Sphider deployment has this integrated. The results are above the fold, and in the rail (along the side). In the ad server, these are represented by two distinct channels - Featured Sponsors and Standard.

In both cases, placement is based on keyword bidding. As an advertiser, they can target their ads using broad, phrase, and exact match as well as negative. Thus, one can advertise to searches for "embroidered patches" while making sure the ad doesn't appear for "smoking", or even "male enhancement".

Extending on this, you can also open your system up to Publishers. For example, you could allow other Sphider users obtain ads from your ad server while getting paid a commission to do so.

Hope that helps.

There is a thread on here that gives direction on setting up this kind of thing with the inclick ad server. I wasn't able to dedicate enough time to give it a true test so I don't know how it would work. You may want to search for that and see if it works for you though.

I would be happy with being able to insert some code into my search results page to make it look like those right side sponsored google results too. Anyone have any tips on how I would do that? I had successfully placed a wide skyscraper in my previous (smarterscripts) search engine results page, but I did that by encapsulating everything into a table. I'm sure there's a better, more efficient way, but I'm just not a coder myself. If anyone can tell me how I could mimic googles right hand sponsored text ad links (with my own inserted static ads) for my own site, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
