Error Message when Installing
July 10, 2014 09:37PM
Hello,
I'm ran into trouble when installing this. I downloaded and unzipped the files. I then uploaded them in ascii mode using FTP to a folder called sphider on my server. I created the corresponding database, user, and password and entered this info, along with the server name into database.php and then reuploaded that. When I first ran the install script, I got an error. I then edited my database to give it full privileges, but I got the error below:

Sphider installation script.
Error: Table 'sites' already exists
 Error: Table 'links' already exists
 Error: Table 'keywords' already exists
 Error: Table 'link_keyword0' already exists
 Error: Table 'link_keyword1' already exists

 Error: Table 'link_keyword3' already exists
 Error: Table 'link_keyword4' already exists

Creating tables failed. Consult the above error messages.

While I understand design coding fairly well, I'm not versed in programming. I edit files in Notepad and upload them using an FTP program, though I can also edit them via a File Manager in the cPanel of my webhost. I used MySQL to create the database and my web host is using Version: 5.5.32.

Here is a link to the page with the error: http://www.altogetherchristmas.com/sphider/admin/install.php.

Here is the info from the database.php file, in case that helps:
	$database="sphiderdb";
	$mysql_user = "sphidersearch";
	$mysql_password = "Sph1d3r!";
	$mysql_host = "altogether.accountsupportmysql.com";
	$mysql_table_prefix = "";
Any help in getting this correctly installed would be greatly appreciated. While I know how to create databases and set privileges, that's about the extent of my experience with them, so please give explicit instructions if I need to edit things using something like PHP MyAdmin.
Thank you in advance,
Deborah

After doing some Internet searches and testing, I found this item: http://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/266150-sphider-installation-error/. I didn't know how to edit this via SQL or phpMyAdmin (or if that's even possible), so I did a text search through the sphider files and found the following code in install.php in the Sphider admin folder:
mysql_query("create table `".$mysql_table_prefix."query_log` (
	query varchar(255),
	time timestamp(14),
	elapsed float(2),
	results int,
	key query_key(query))"winking smiley;

I changed the code to:
mysql_query("create table `".$mysql_table_prefix."query_log` (
	query varchar(255),
	time timestamp,
	elapsed float(2),
	results int,
	key query_key(query))"winking smiley;

and uploaded it via my FTP program and the search is working now.

Hope this helps anyone else that runs into the same issue.
Deborah
