Updating Sphider
January 27, 2015 03:40PM
I am running an older version of Sphider and just got an email from a user informing me it's no longer working. I get the following error.

Deprecated: Function eregi_replace() is deprecated in /public_html/mydomain.com/include/searchfuncs.php on line 54

I figure an update might be necessary, but I'd hate to lose all my customizations. Is there a doc for 1) the proper way to update Sphider, and 2) a document on how to do so without losing customizations?

1. There are several suggestions offered here in the forum.
2. No, not avilable. But customizations usually are done in sub folder .../templates/
This folder is not involved for 'deprecated' PHP functions.

Thanks Tec. Do you happen to recall the urls or keywords used to the forum posts about upgrading? I have tried upgrade, update, new version, and I get nothing helpful.

I've done search tests with phorum before, using keywords taken directly from titles and posts, and they've not been returned. (ie: I believe you there's helpful info already out there, I just don't know how to find it)

Search for 'deprecated', using the option 'All Dates'
Also these posts might be helpful:
Before you dismiss this subject, finally have a look at Sphider-plus.
