am trying to integrate sphider with my website that is basically using html.
am following instructions from this blog (http://valleynumber21.blogspot.co.ke/search/label/sphider%20setup) I have gone upto step 9 but when I try to install php.install through (http://localhost/sphider/admin/install.php), I get the following error

Sphider installation script.
connected successfully
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_query() in C:\xampp\htdocs\sphider\admin\install.php:16 Stack trace: #0 {main} thrown in C:\xampp\htdocs\sphider\admin\install.php on line 16

how can I get past this error? I have tried all I could.

mysql_query() is a deprecated PHP function in newer PHP environments.
Please keep in mind that the original Sphider is not supported by its developer since about 8 years. So, if you use newer server environment (e.g. like PHP 5.5), and you require a MySQLi connector to your database, you should have a look at the improvements 'rap' meanwhile added to Sphider. If you additionally look for a lot of more features than pure text indexation, you should also have a look at Sphider-plus.

I have already been able to connect to the database as you can see from my earlier post. the problem is that sphider instal.php is unable to create the necessary tables in a database I created in the htdocs. it returns an error wnen I try to. alternatively is there a link I can use to import the tables?

Can't find any posting from 'michaelnjogu'. How could I, as you registered yesterday (29.07.2016) as a new member here in the forum?

<<< Call to undefined function mysql_query() >>>
This is an error message, which is caused by the script …/admin/install.php, which still tries to use a HP function that meanwhile is deprecated for newer PHP versions.

As it seems you don't believe in my last posting, so please have a look at the official PHP manual at http://php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-query.php
