manual indexing?

manual indexing?

I skimmed the code briefly, to see if there was an "open ended" interface that would allow me to manually add and remove articles from the search index.

Didn't see any - are there any?

It would great if there was an API that allowed manually adding/removing articles, for two reasons:

1. avoid indexing the "fluff" - often, there are links, ads and other unrelated content around the article itself, on portal sites especially. If you could manually provide the article's relevant textual content, explicitly, you'd get more accurate results.

2. ability to new add articles to the search index as they are created - e.g. no waiting for the next indexing run .. and vice-versa with removed articles - no running into dead links of previously indexed, now removed, articles.

this would have some other positive side effects, like for example a slightly smaller search index.

but perhaps it's not possible to add/remove articles on demand?

One possibility is to add a page as a "site", and have indexing depth 0 (ie only index the page itself).
