Just installed Sphider V1.3.5, but no fulltext.

I've just installed Sphider V1.3.5 and everything seems to work, except that the search results do not contain a description. I've looked in the MySQL database and the 'fulltxt' column is blank. I would really appreciate some ideas / suggestions.

Update:

Just tried this on a non content management site and it worked, so now I'm happy!
